"In a compassionate world, we restore everything from oceans to forests,
justice and our communities."

About
The Far Meadow is an online, living school and community for the long journey of inner work. Membership brings together gradually unfolding self-study teachings, seasonal live programs, a growing practice library, and a community of people walking the path alongside you.Â
Our work includes nature-based parts work, dream work, meditation, shadow work, compassion, communication training, healthy relating, and returning to an attunement with nature and her cycles.
Learn How The Far Meadow WorksCome & Stay
The Far Meadow is a place to land for deep, ongoing learning and growth.
Rather than moving from one course, teacher, or insight to the next, you're invited to stay awhile—to settle into the work, return to what matters, and give what you're learning time to sink in and become part of your life.
Meaningful inner work happens gradually. We return to the same questions, teachings, and places within ourselves time and again, meeting them from new perspectives as we grow and change.
Often, we don't need more information. We need time to practice what we already know, embody it more fully, and discover what it has to teach us next.
There will always be more to discover here. But there is nowhere you need to rush.
Begin Your JourneyHealing Is Only The Beginning
Heal
Turn toward your inner world with compassion. Meet the wounds, patterns, and parts of yourself that have shaped your life. Quiet the inner critic, develop the Wise Witness, grieve what needs grieving, and cultivate self-belonging. Begin untangling yourself from the strategies that once protected you but may now constrain you, including avoidance, control, perfectionism, people-pleasing, self-sabotage, and others.
Emerge
Let the Self beneath familial and cultural conditioning come forward. Develop greater presence, courage, love, creativity, and capacity for deep relationship. Discover your gifts. Trust your instincts and inner knowing. Step into your power, follow your vision, and become increasingly willing to let your life change.
Serve
Let your healing, wisdom, power, and gifts become a natural offering to the world. Grow beyond a life organized primarily around the self, and toward greater generosity, stewardship, and a life increasingly oriented toward the good of the whole.
We believe the work we do on ourselves naturally becomes part of the healing of the world. The Far Meadow exists to help cultivate people whose lives increasingly become a source of goodness through their maturity, courage, compassion, and capacity to serve something greater than themselves.
We call this direction elderhood.
Begin Your JourneyWe Belong To The Living World
We are not separate from nature. We are part of a vast community of life, bound up with countless other beings and with the living systems that make our own lives possible.
Part of becoming more whole is remembering this belonging, and allowing it to change how we live, what we value, and what we choose to protect.
We might think of this as a kind of rewilding: not simply returning to nature, but remembering that we are nature, and learning to live as responsible members of the larger Earth community.
As our sense of belonging widens, so does our circle of care.

The Far Meadow is also a place to find your people.
A book club. A place to tend dreams. Spaces for creative work and collaboration. Groups for bringing a book, business, artistic project, or long-held vision into the world.
When we do deep inner work, it can sometimes feel hard to find others we relate to. Here, you will find an abundance of kindred spirits.
Begin Your JourneyAbout The Founder
The Far Meadow was founded by Julia Frodahl after more than 20 years of guiding and mentoring people through their inner lives.
Julia didn't come to this work because she planned it as a career. She came to it looking for her own way out of lostness, and wanting to understand this strange and mysterious world.
Everything she teaches is rooted in that quest.
Over many years, that search became a way of life, and eventually, this school.
Meet Julia
Come walk with us
You don't need to know exactly where you're going or how to get there.
You don't need to do everything at once.
If our philosophy resonates with you, you only need to take the first step in and join us.
The path will unfold gradually. We'll guide you along the way, and you'll have plenty of time to explore, practice, rest, return, and find your own way through the work.

Learning to see myself and the world through her looking glass has improved my life in every way, from how I feel inside, to how I make decisions, how I carry myself at work, and how I communicate with my partner. Julia is articulate, intuitive, loving, perceptive, and genuine. She is a true teacher, and healer. I am so grateful for all that she has shared with me."Â

“Julia has a way of synthesizing the most complex ideas into something practical and relatable. Into ideas and practices that I can apply to my daily life. Never have I met someone with such an obvious wealth of knowledge, and the warmest of hearts as Julia. My way of moving through life is so much more gracious and easeful since I began working with her. If you are thinking about working with Julia, please don’t hesitate to give yourself this life-changing gift.”Â
